Susan Braun

Managing Partner

As a Managing Partner, Susan Braun brings more than two decades of experience in independent school administration and operations to Panorama Consulting. Susan successfully guided two multi-million dollar capital campaigns and all related capital improvement projects – from concept to construction. Her experience with development and fundraising also includes management of a pool of top-level major donors, establishing an endowment and building investment policies and procedures.

Susan served as Administrator at the Waldorf School of Garden City from 1998 – 2019. During her tenure, enrollment grew by more than 40%, marketing and communication were enhanced, leadership and governance clarified, and financial stability achieved through sound fiscal policy. Susan’s background in guiding all aspects of school administration, along with her experience in collaborative leadership and governance, provides her with a unique perspective into both the opportunities and the challenges facing independent schools.

In addition to her work as School Administrator, Susan has led or served on more than a dozen Waldorf and independent school accreditation committees for the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, the New York State Association of Independent Schools, and the Southern Association of Independent Schools. She has mentored a number of Waldorf Schools throughout the United States.

Prior to joining the Waldorf School of Garden City, Susan spent more than 15 years at Citigroup, where she was a Vice President and Financial Operations Principal for a broker-dealer subsidiary. Following her graduation from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Susan spent two years in public accounting and obtained her CPA license.

An active community member, Susan’s volunteer work includes serving on the Board of the Hempstead Boys and Girls Club, as well as serving as a peer tutor with Literacy Nassau.  During her time at the Waldorf School of Garden City, Susan coached the high school girls’ basketball team, taught an Introduction to Business course for juniors and seniors, and completed the Foundation Studies program. Both Susan’s son, Christopher, and husband, Scott, are graduates of the Waldorf School of Garden City.

In May 2019, Susan received the Franz E. Winkler Leadership Award in recognition of her efforts to guide the growth and advancement of the Waldorf School of Garden City and her ability to empower others to excel and achieve their personal best.
